General Familiarization Manuals are study guides covering a general approach to each model aircraft. They are great tools for review, new hires, pre-requisite training, and preparations for systems level classes. These manuals and courses are an economical approach benefiting students, technicians, teachers, MRO training departments, and airlines maintenance departments alike.

In addition to the manuals, AeroEd offers a complete and certificated self study GenFam course for the 737-300/400/500 aircraft. The self study course includes a personal on-line advisor, stage and final testing, a certificate of completion, and 40 FAA AMT Award credit hours. The course may be ordered now in addition to the manuals or at a later time after the manual purchase for only the upgrade price.

The 737-200 was succeeded in 1984 by the 737-300. This was a much quieter, larger and more economical aircraft and contained a host ofnew features and improvements. The new model featured many aerodynamic, structural, cockpit and cabin features developed for the new -generation 757/767.

One of the objectives was to have a high degree of commonality with the 737-200, the achieved figure was 67% by part count. This gives saving for airlines in maintenance, spares, tools for existing 737-200 operators. Also the aircraft was designed to have similar flying qualities, cockpit arrangements and procedures to minimise training differences and permit a common type rating.

14 May 2002: Pemco Aviation Group announces that it has inducted its first aircraft for the new 737-300 cargo conversion program at its Dothan, Alabama facility following the recent certification of its 737-300 Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) by the FAA.

Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI), Bedek Aviation Group have converted several737-300 BDSF's (BDSF = Bedek Special Freighter) including those of Kitty Hawk Aircargo. The Kitty Hawk aircraft are also fitted with the FuelMizer modification kits from AvAero.

The purpose of this course is to provide students (who conform to the above entry level criteria) with theoretical knowledge regarding the maintenance of B737-300/400/400 series (Classic), as applicable to their work environment. Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to apply their prior knowledge, skills and experience, in conjunction with the information contained in this course, when performing the required maintenance and support. Additionally, this course complies with SACAA requirements to enable successful students to apply for their Aircraft Maintenance Engineer rating, where applicable. The course prepares an airline maintenance technician to operate, maintain and repair all relevant systems on the aircraft. This course provides in-depth technical information, including a detailed description of all relevant systems and components, location and access of components, theory of operation and overviews of maintenance procedures. In addition, relevant in-service problems, service bulletins and Airplane Maintenance Manuals use are covered. This course is tailored to meet specific training objectives focusing on some Avionics and complete Airframe/Power Plant disciplines.

The participant will acquire knowledge necessary to perform and certify maintenance tasks permitted to be carried out as certifying staff category B1 & B2. It provides detailed description, operation, component location, removal/installation, bite and troubleshooting procedures to a maintenance manual level.
